Halloween may be the scariest day of the year for our local children...but not nearly as scary as the weeks and months following for the dentist. Advanced Dental Concepts is extending the Halloween Holiday fun in a healthy way by exchanging Halloween Stash for Cash.
As you may have heard on television or in media print, our country faces an epidemic among our youth with Childhood Obesity, Juvenile Diabetes, ADD and ADHD, not to mention the continuous battle against poor dental health and tooth decay. Prescriptions for Ritalin and Insulin have doubled since 2004 and sugar consumption among American children continues to rise at 2% annually. Global sugar consumption has reached 50 million tons per year.
No, our intention is not to be the Grinch that stole Halloween. We encourage our community children to thoroughly enjoy the annual "Fright Night" in all of it's glory. As adults, and parents, we remember...and some of us still participate, in one of the most terrifying, fun filled nights of the year. We want our children to experience trick-or-treating, huddling around the kitchen table to examine our fabulous finds, selecting the most prized collections of the night and also filling our piggy banks by donating the excess pounds and pounds of candy to our troops overseas for cold, hard, CASH, PRIZES and FUN!!
Dr. Hayes and staff are holding the annual 2010 Halloween Candy Buy Back Event on Monday, November 1, from 4 to 7 PM, at our Crown Point / Winfield Office located at 10780 Randolph Street, near Lakes of the Four Seasons. We will be offering fun, snacks, prizes and Cash for your Halloween Stash. We will buy your excess Halloween candy for $1 per pound (up to $5 per child). Each child donating their stash will be given 1 free raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing for tons of prizes donated by many of our supporting local businesses. The drawing will be held at 7 PM following the event. Winners need not be present. As the donations come in, we will continue to update this site. If you would like to donate for this cause, we could use prizes, food gift certificates, snacks for the event, shipping boxes, cash donations (for postage and shipping costs only, our office will be donating cash for the buy back), please contact Dr. Hayes at 219-663-6579. Any support will be recognized on this site and on any materials provided at the event. Thank you in advance.
All Candy collected will be shipped to our troops in personalized care packages via Operation Gratitude (www.opgratitude.com) located in California. We want to support our troops that defend our freedom and this country everyday by giving them a little piece of home during these difficult times. They deserve it. Please, donate only unopened candy, no bites removed.
All children from any community are welcome to attend this event. We are one of the only donation sites listed on the Halloween Candy Buy Back Website (www.halloweencandybuyback.com) in Northwest IN. We are expecting a huge turnout and hope to reach our goal of 1000 POUNDS of donated candy to ship to our troops overseas.
